PC/Network Specialist
NT Administrator
Configured PCs. Installed PC and network equipment
(UNIX servers, Cisco routers, DSU/CSU) into a TCP/IP WAN environment which
used frame relay, ISDN, standard analog dialup and Virtual Private
Networking via the Internet.
Provided all levels of technical support in person and via phone for PCs.
Provided initial support for networking equipment and basic systems
administration of Digital UNIX, SunOS and Linux servers. Major participant
in the planning and deployment of a WAN wide upgrade from Windows 3.1x to
Windows 95 involving over 200 hosts. Developed processes for the cloning
of PCs, installation of and automation of the installation of new
software. Wrote online (HTML) documentation for the installation,
configuration and troubleshooting of PC software and hardware for use by
helpdesk technicians.
Systems Administrator for Citrix Winframe servers, Windows NT 3.51, and
Windows NT 4.0 servers and workstations at both local and remote sites
on the WAN. Administration of
these servers included the planning and integration of NT networks into a
UNIX TCP/IP environment using NFS and providing 24/7 mission critical
support for over 250 users. Trained others to perform daily administrative
tasks.

OPS: PC/Mac Technician and Systems Administrator
Responsible for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of
both Macintoshs and IBM PCs. Responsible for instruction
of the Department's faculty in the use of DOS, Windows (3.x and 95),
and Macintosh software packages, including Microsoft Office, Word
Perfect, Eudora, Netscape, and Photoshop as well as other
less used packages.
Responsible for the original setup and
administration of the Department's Linux server; requiring knowledge
of TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, HTML, FTP, shell scripting, and
Samba. Responsible for installation of networking and
telecommunication hard/software on Unix, DOS/Windows and
Macintosh machines. Also responsible for insuring that the
department faculty could access the server and the Internet with
this software via both the local Ethernet network and FSU's
dial-in access. Created the Department's Home Page on the WWW.
