Current Manifestations
Rarely does he come to earth being occupied with his travels across the heavens and underworld but when he does he appears to age as the sun ages throughout the day. He begins as a young boy, by midday he has become a grown man and by evening he is aged man. This change is gradual and subtle and can only be noticed over the span of hours. His features change as appropritate, as a youth he is long haired and beardless, as a man he wears the goatbeard of the pharaohs, and as an old man his hair thins but never completely balds. Whatever age he seems to be he is tall, slender, and dark completed. Those with supernatural sight claim he is always surmounted by a solar disk, or an least an aura of light.
Great Serpent is also a protector of wisdom. Great Serpent holds the knowledge of all things safe, past present and future. This aspect has brought him in conflict with the Celestial Invaders many times as the try and take this wisdom. He has been the target of their direct assaults as the Python of Delphi, and their scions as Fafnir. But Great Serpent survives these assaults to be reborn, sometimes into new aspects of the Celestial Invaders themselves.
Great Serpent is an Anima not a Deiwos. The first god of H. sapiens alone he has done better than Great Cave Bear over the millennia. His capacity for rebirth has helped him to survive repeated defeats at the hands of the Sun. As the bringer of life giving rains and waters Great Serpent has long had an animosity with the drying ever present Sun. Great Serpent has also long been a friend of the Great Mother and Son-Consort, at times being almost indistinguishable from him.
Later guides the dead to the underworld weighs their heart.
