Mercury can be summed up simply, he crosses boundries. In this simple phrase he becomes one of the most complex and diverse gods, one of the few gods who have no need to grow and expand his pervues over time. He is the guide for the dead (crossing the boundrey from this world to the next), he is the god of commerce, markets, trade, and roads (crossing geographic boundries), he is a herald, messenger and mediator (crossing between people and factions), he is a theif (crossing societal and legal bounds), he is an inventor and many other things.
