    Chapter I
    1. And there was a Duke of Chaos, known to the people as the Snake of Chaos for his wisdom was like unto that of the Serpents own wisdom.
    2. And one day as he contemplated upon the Abyss he received a vision
    3. Behold for I am the Unicorn
    4. And he was struck dumb by the Majesty of the Unicorn and could not speak.
    5. The people of Chaos have done evil in my sight
    6. and all of creation will be changed.
    7. No longer shall the People of Chaos be Lord of Shadow
    8. A new ORDER shall be established
    9. And you shall be the father of that ORDER
    10. You shall go forth from here and take the virgin, daughter of the Emperor,
    11. who shall be me in her form,
    12. and you shall flee with us into shadow to the limit of your powers.
    13. There you shall become the father of my child.
    14. A child who shall mold all of creation to his will
    15. A child who shall be a father to his people and his people shall be as numerous as the shadows
    16. A child whose line shall rule for all time
    17. And the Duke was afraid
    18. Those who do my will shall come to no harm
    19. And the Duke though he be afraid consented.
    20. Upon the next green sky you shall enter the Palace of the Emperor
    21. and you shall be unseen
    22. You shall take up the Left Eye of the Serpent
    23. and the Scepter of the Emperor
    24. and you will lay with daughter of the Emperor
    25. Who shall be me in her form
    26. And I will watch over you, and you will be unseen
    27. and you shall flee into shadow with all your household as far as your power shall carry you.
    28. And none shall look back
    Chapter II
    1. And then the Unicorn came to the daughter of the Emperor an gave her a vision:
    2. Behold, for I am the Unicorn
    3. And she was struck dumb by the Majesty of the Unicorn and could not speak
    4. Soon I through you shall be the mother of a new ORDER
    5. and I will be with you
    6. and I shall be you
    7. and I shall bear the father of a new ORDER
    8. A child who shall mold all of creation to his will
    9. A child who shall be a father to his people and his people shall be as numerous as the shadows
    10. A child whose line shall rule for all time
    11. A child who shall displace the Emperor as Lord of Shadow.
    12. and the Unicorn left.
    13. and the daughter of the Emperor went to the Emperor and said:
    14. Father, Emperor of Chaos, I have had a vision
    15. I have seen the Unicorn and it shall bear a child through me
    16. a child who shall mold all of creation to his will
    17. a child who shall be a father to his people
    18. and his people shall be as numerous as the shadows
    19. child whose line shall rule for all time
    20. And who shall be the New Lord of Shadow
    21. and the Emperor was dismayed.
    22. and the Emperor had his daughter place in a tower where none could enter
    23. and there were no windows in the tower.
    24. and he caused the door to be completely bricked up, save a single brick for her food.
    25. and magical enchantments were placed upon the tower so that none should enter by sorcery or by trump
    26. And he placed a guard about the tower.
    27. and he ordered that should she bear any child the bricks should be torn down it should be killed
    Chapter III
    1. Upon the next Green sky the Duke went forth to the Palace of the Emperor.
    2. and he came unto the tower and passed through it walls as though they did not exist for within him was the power of the Unicorn
    3. And he came to the daughter of the Emperor
    4. And he saw the daughter of the Emperor and desired her with his heart for she was the Unicorn made human and was beautiful
    5. Then he lay with the Unicorn and got her with child.
    6. And he entered the Palace unseen and passed through the walls as if they did not exist for within him was the power of the Unicorn
    7. And he took the left eye of the serpent
    8. and he returned to his castle
    9. And the Emperor discovered his loss
    10. and he sent forth a mighty army
    11. and for nine months the Emperor laid siege to the castle of the Duke
    12. and on horrible night of storms the walls of the castle were battered down and the castle stormed and the emperor ordered everyone in the castle killed
    13. except his daughter, even the children
    14. and the duke who was called the Snake was lost in the fight and fled into shadow
    15. and a son was born to the Unicorn in the shape of Princess that night
    16. and she called him Oberon
    17. And the Unicorn took him out of the castle unharmed, none of the emperor's men seeing them
    18. only Princess remained alive in the walls
    19. and she returned to her father.
    Chapter IV
    1. and so Oberon lived among those opposed to the Emperor as an outcast
    2. and he was a great pupil and became mighty in both magic and the sword
    3. many years passed and as Oberon approached manhood the Unicorn came to him in a vision
    4. Behold for I am the Unicorn thy mother
    5. And he was struck dumb by the Majesty of the Unicorn and could not speak
    6. You will go forth and find the Jewel which your father took from the Serpent.
    7. and the Scepter, which your father took from the Emperor,
    8. and the Knowledge which your father learned upon the Abyss
    9. and you will inscribe the Pattern and create a new ORDER, for this is the destiny to which you were born
    10. But Oberon turned away from the Unicorn for he sought revenge upon the Emperor
    11. and Oberon raised a mighty army
    12. and marched upon the Emperor.
    13. but he was betrayed
    14. and forced to flee into the farthest shadow upon his bird
    15. and he became lost
    16. and the shadow began to dissipate
    17. and all Oberon magic could do nothing and he saw his own death
    18. but Lo from a crack in the shadow came Dworkin and upon his breast the jewel
    19. and the shadow was strenghened.
    20. and Dworkin spoke to Oberon
    21. "I have been sent by the Unicorn to find you Oberon,
    22. and to teach you the ways of the new ORDER."
    23. And Oberon listened and learned the ways of the New Order.
    24. and he became wise and powerful and founded a new kingdom
    25. and the Emperor became aware of Oberon but was loathe to attack him
    26. for new trials beset the Emperor
    27. and he offered Oberon a Dukedom, if he would submit
    28. and it was a great offer and Oberon was tempted
    29. and he went into the forest to contemplate the offer
    Chaper V
    1. And there Oberon in a glade saw the Unicorn
    2. and she moved as if he were to follow him
    3. and he followed her
    4. unto the side of the great mountain Kolvir
    5. and there she spoke
    6. Behold, for I am the Unicorn, thy mother
    7. Here you will take the Jewel and with the knowledge you will create a new ORDER
    8. and then you will take up the Scepter and rule a new kingdom
    9. and so Oberon took up the Jewel and the Knowledge and the Scepter and the kingdom of Amber was created
