Items, Agents, and Demons Items, Agents, and Demons Items, Agents, and Demons
I have reworked the item rules so that there is one system for Items, Weapons, Creatures, Agents and Demons with each of those being a sub category of the generic "Items and Artifacts". Basically each sub category has a base level of each Quality and Power that it gets for free. Qualities above the base level cost 1, then 2 then 4 ... points qualities below -1, -2, -4 and so on.

Generic Items: This should be last since its a cache all for anything not covered by the other categories.

Weapons: Weapons, Armor, Shields and the like. Anything typically made of metal or other hard material for warfare.

Creatures: Animals, Dragons, Leviathans. Living things that may or may not be intelligent and don't start with tool making capability

Agents: Humanoids and thier tools. Use the make fire use tools rule to differentiate from Creatures. A Centaur that can shoot a bow is an Agent not a Creature. When buying an Agent tools can be part of the Agent. Want your personal body guards to have Deadly Damage but look human, give them all Deadly Damage Swords. This goes pretty far, a navy would be Agents since you need men to man the ships, even if the ships end up with most the points. Agents can not be conjured with Conjuration.

Demons: The denizens of Chaos. They have several advantages over Creatures and Agents, notable in the Attributes and Shapeshifting sections. However there are disadvantages to Demons can not come with tools, Demons must be negotiated with and contracted through a pact before they will do work, the starting demon is quickly laid low by the mere existance of Pattern so extra points must be spent to make him resistant to its effects, and finally a method must be provided to bring the demon from the Courts to the players location in Shadow, usually by means of Conjuration, demons can not be "found" in shadow like the other categories.

Starting Power and Qualites table.

So why would I create an item as a Generic Item rather than a Weapon when I don't get Natrual Armor and Naturally Hard for free? Because those two levels arn't magic. A dress which is normally of cloth must start out as a Generic Item, and points spent on it to make it of Kevlar, or metal or whatever that isn't normal.

Like wise Demons have a disadvantage vs Agents, Demons can not really survive in Pattern influcenced shadows, and must be controlled with pacts, adding to their final point values.

Agents vs Creatures: Agents can include the tools they use; ships, weapons, computers Creatures are just that creatures even given intelligence they can not come with tools. Agents can not be conjured using conjuration.

The Vitality, Stamina, Healing, Psychic Quality, Psychic Defense and Aggression are more in line with the Attributes. So that the 1st level should be Human Rank, the 2nd Chaos Rank, the 3rd Amber, and higher ranks inside the Ranked ladder somewhere.

The item system has been reworked to fall more in line with the stats. Here are the appropriate tables to use.
